Sardegna 2 - Grotta di Nettuno

Hello everyone  !

As I told you in my last post, I've been to Sardegna and visited many different places.
This is the second article about this great island and shows pictures of Neptune's Grotto (in Italian Grotta di Nettuno). At the end of it, I give you my personal opinion.

I took the pictures in very good quality, so open them if you want to see them full size. None of the pictures have been edited.
If you like them, you can download/save them to use them as wallpapers. Please let me know what you think of the pictures on the comments section below.

Enjoy !

Here is a little bit if information about the cave :

Neptune's Grotto is a stalactite cave neat the town of Alghero, discovered by local fishermen in the 18th century and named after the Roman god of the sea, Neptune.

The entrance to the cave lies only around a metre above the sea level at the foot of the 110-metre-high Capo Caccia cliffs and the cave can therefore only be visited when the waters below are calm. To reach the entrance of the cave, one has to go down a 654-step stairway ! But the problem is that once you've visited the inside of the cave, you have to go up all the stairs and you end up tired, especially if it's a very hot day.

Inside are passages of lit stalactite and stalagmite formations, and a 120-metre-long saltwater lake, which is at sea level. Visitors have guided tours inside the cave that last approximately half an hour.

One can also enter the cave via a short boat trip from the port of Alghero.

My personal opinion :

Visiting the cave is really interesting if you haven't seen any other cave before, because it's quite impressive ! However, in August, there were too many tourists (not really a suprise haha). Another point is that you have to pay 13 € per person, so maybe if you're not very interested, you won't want to visit.

Have a great day !
